Thirlmere


Thirlmere, a northern lake just south of Keswick, was created in 1879 by merging two smaller lakes to create a reservoir, thus submerging the Wythburn Inn patronised by William Wordsworth.

Helvellyn and Dollywagon Pike towers over Thirlmere which has picturesque forested shorelines. Helvellyn offers exciting walking with its famous challenging Striding Edge.
