Cumbria Steam Gathering Festival

Are you a steam enthusiast?

Do you want to give your children a fascinating & educational day out?

Then head up to Flookburgh in the Lake District to experience the Cumbria Steam Gathering Festival next July.

The Steam Festival is run by Cumbria Steam & Vintage Vehicle Society. With more than 40,000 visitors over two days the steam gathering is one of the biggest events in the county.

One of the Festival’s founding members was Tim Holt from Hutton Roof. He was chief steward at the very first Cumbria Steam Gathering in 1974 and is now the event’s main organiser heading a team of 10 which themselves lead almost 500 volunteers.

One of the aims of The Cumbria Steam Gathering & Festival is to promote an interest in steam and vintage vehicles.

The Cumbria Steam & Vintage Vehicle Society has also become involved in farm tractor driving training which gives youngsters the chance to learn about steam “right from the dirty end”.
